Being Positive in 2017

Positivity. That is something the world needs MUCH more of in 2017. If more people would think positive and pay it forward, think of how wonderful the world would be.

Over the last several months I have watched friends "fight" friends and family "fight" family over the many political issues that everyone wants to argue about, but no one wants to DO something about. I'm 100% all for having your own opinion and telling people your thoughts, but do you really want to loose family and friends because of idiots in Washington that honestly don't care about any of us "commoners"?

I know I don't.

When I see the posts bashing this supporter or that supporter I try to remember - the person that posted that might not agree with me, but they still MEAN something to me (or, most of the time they do). If I need help - these are the people that are going to be there supporting ME. If they need help, I'll be one lining up to do what I can to help THEM. Not the idiots in Washington, not the idiots in my state capital - these people that I interact with almost daily both on social media and in real life.

What really gets me the most is these friends and family are arguing against each other but not actively DOING something about the issues they are fighting about.

Why?

If you feel that passionately about an issue - don't fight your family and friends about it, DO something about it. Start a petition, start a rally, talk to your representatives until they are sick and tired of seeing your number on their caller ID. Don't fight your neighbor until you hate each other because what does that do except make you loose a friend? It doesn't resolve the issue and you probably are not going to change each others minds.

Instead - be POSITIVE. Instead of griping about the issues, post WHAT you are doing about it. Post about that silly little thing that made you smile this morning. Post an awesome news story that almost made you cry because it was so sweet. Post about how you came home from work and your neighbor had mowed your yard for you. Post THANK YOU to those that do the little things for you every day.

Post POSITIVE.

No, that will not make the issues go away. No, it isn't going to make our political issues better - but neither will arguing on Facebook about them. And, neither will loosing friends and family over a social media post.
